Fishing in B.C???

I am guessing corporate guys get to see all the cool places...therefore, anyone have any gouge on an all inclusive fishing trip to Vancouver Island...preferably Campbell River area..

The most fish I have taken back from Vancouver Island is from a group that stayed at Kyuquot Sound aboard a boat called the Daily Anne. Getting there from CR won't be too easy but if you want to bring fish home, that is the place.

At CR you can hop a short (1 mile) ferry over to Quadra Island and stay at April Point lodge. There is also a good size lodge in CR itself, but I can't remember the name. I have stayed a couple nights at the Silver King lodge in Cambell River (on the floatplane spit) and it is okay, though I didn't do any fishing with them. A short plane ride from Campbell River can get you to Big Bay on Stuart Island, which has good fishing but the tidal currents get wild.

If you want to go further than Vancouver Island, Rivers Inlet and Hakai Pass are good places to go. Rivers didn't bring home a lot of fish last year but both lodges treat you very well. The fishing at Hakai takes place in more protected areas so if you get seasick easily this would be the one to go to. I've had some interesting takeoffs from Rivers when the swells start picking up in the early afternoons.

If you have a car in Campbell River, you can jump on the highway to the west coast where there are some lodges in Tofino and Ucluelet. Tofino is an especially nice harbor town but they are fogged in a lot. Also a lot of nice lodges in Barkley Sound but you'll need to take a water taxi or plane to get to them.

If you can swing the bucks I would suggest one of the floating lodges. You will have all the food and drink you can handle and have excellent fishing.

The floating lodges typically float in the Queen Charolette <sp> area. They are always following the salmon and you WILL get your limit. If you fish in the Cambel River/Comax area it can be hit and miss and VERY crowded. It is a little close to Vancover. It is not unlike Kenai in Alaska

I myself am an Alaska guy (King Salmon specificaly). I have had the best trout and salmon fishing of all my travels up there. I just had to cancel my trip for next summer (family concerns) and do not know what I am going to fill my freezer with this year

All in all, you cannot go wrong when you decide to fish. My advice would be to get a place that cannot be reached by a car or a 5hp outboard, your sucess will greatly increase.
