I was flying along at about 3 am on 8/8 and several controllers mentioned to planes heading to New York that they may have problems when they get up that way because New York Center had a fire and evacuated the building. Does anyone know the gist of what happened and the extent of damages? I havent seen any mention of it anywhere.

Its all B.S. Houston tracon catches on fire more than my old high school.
I think the controllers just needed some fresh air and that was the only way to leave the building!

The central vacuuming system caught on fire while being used. The building was evacuated and ATC-Zero was declared. I believe they were out of the building for about 30-40 minutes total. Not too many flights were impacted as it happened around 315am.
