What is it with DUATS? Filing VFR or IFR it always seems to be hit or miss if Flight Service actually receives the info. I heard at least four other aircraft this week call up ground for an IFR clearance, but nothing was on file. Ground would say, "Did you file with DUATS?". Aircraft, "yes". Ground, "Well there's your problem. You'll need to call flight service."

I've emailed CSC DUATS about this a couple times and I never got a reply.

I've had the same problem... The thing that sucks is that if you file an IFR flight plan with DUATS, the FSS people can't check it - or at least that's what they've told me. More than once I had to redo the whole flight plan with FSS after being told by Ground they don't know what I'm talking about.

I agree with above: fltplan.com

Free and far superior to DUATS. Don't expect the same "novel" of weather information that DUATS propagates, but it will give you exactly what you need. I've never had a miss with fltplan.

I might have the answer to your problems. If you file a flight plan and it has in a departure in your flight plan, 9 out of 10 times it will not file. All you need to do is file a fix in the departure. Even fltplan.com warns you about filing a departure procedure. Try and see if this helps.

I also see you use csc duats. I use dtc duats and have never not had it thru.

Thanks for the info folks. I think DTC and fltpln are better sites. bye bye CSC

I agree CSC and Fltplan are both sensitve to SID's. I've been useing Duats for almost 10 years and never had alot of trouble with them. Although there has been a couple of times my flightp lan ws not there but that is out of hundreds if not thousands of flight plans. This includes flight plans to S. America Mexico Bahama's and Central America.

The few IFR plans I fly are all filed with CSC DUATS. I can't complain about it, its worked every time, even when I file with SIDS & STARS. Just dont file GPS direct on the east coast.

Its true that FSS can't access/change flight plans filed with DUATS.

I file a SID almost every time I use fltplan and have had no problems. Also, the display of popular routing and last flight plans between two points on fltplan.com is priceless(but still free)
