I was just wondering what a pilot should charge for ferrying a small single engine airplane across several states? Is it based on mileage, or flight time, or what?

Thanks

I would probably base it on total mileage and flight time, but I would also leave other options open to be able to "negotiate". I think you may be able to make a little more if you also incorporate other variables into the cost like type of equipment, terrain, days away from home, missed opportunities if you are a CFI, etc. Some owners may offer you a flat rate that would be just as good if not better than using the other formulas. What type of plane and and from where to where?.
