this is the stupidest thing i have ever read in my life... it can't be real.

Not all lasers are harmful to the eyes. I think it's a good idea, it'll hopefully stop most of the people who would otherwise violate the airspace and make things worse for all of us.

So... basically, if a terrorist wants to fly an airplane into the White House or Capital building, the only defense he'll be up against is a set of multi-colored lasers telling him he shouldn't be there?? Wow...

No. The terrorist knowingly flying towards the mall will be blown out of the sky by surface to air missles. The numb-nuts pilot who disregards or ignores a briefing from a FSS or airline briefing package they are required to review before EVERY FLIGHT to DCA will hopefully turn away before they get blown away. Personally, I'd rather get a warning.

Nothin' like a "good old boy" additude towards the humble GA and airline pilots.

What happens when an airliner has an emergency that takes them though that area. Maybe the crew is unable to communicate for a few minutes. Are they gonna shoot them down? I sure hope not. I, personally do not believe 9-11 will ever happen again. No passenger or crew will ever let a person through the cockpit door without killing them by any means neccessary.

BTW the US government should now add hazard pay to all US airline flight pay scales. If we are at risk of being shot at without being able to defend ourselves, then I would like to be compensated.

YES

I think I'd fly the pig away from DC airspace.
