Just curious about a few things. How many internals do you honestly need? Fedex's online application gives spaces for 3 internals, but I've heard 5 is required. I also heard it use to be 5, now they've backed down to 3. Anyone? Thanks.....

The recommendations are done on the pilot website by the persons who are recommending you. They input your name, social security number plus some additional information. You can have an unlimited amount of people recommend you. As for how many recommendations you need now, I don't have a clue. When I got hired I had 1 sponsor and that was it. Now, I think you need a couple of moon landings plus some PIC time on the Enterprise (not the space shuttle, the starship).

Does video game time count? Well, how does one get hired at Fedex if they have the misfortune of not knowing anyone? I mean, do I sit and spin my wheels for no fault of my own? Seems sort of a crappy way to limit one's career!! Oh well, I'll keep trying then.....

I sponsored a buddy of mine and he had an additional 5 recommendations. I walked him in to meet the Chief Pilot almost a year ago and he still hasn't heard anything yet. Then there's guys that meet the Chief Pilot and get called for an interview a month later. I don't know what to tell you buddy. But they say that they should be hiring a bunch starting next year.

Oh, I guess I didn't answer your question. To get hired at FedEx, you need someone to sponsor you, meaning that, that person walks you in to meet the Chief Pilot. You need at least 3 internal recommendations (including your sponsor). Then, you wait.

Hope that helps...

My god, after reading these posts, one would think you guys fly missions to Mars! You fly rubber dog $hit out of Hong Kong! Meanwhile at other parts of the world there are kids with 1000 hours flying the 747.

Wow. Someone's a little bitter. By the way, hauling the rubber dog sh*t is apparently a bit more profitable than hauling the rubber dog sh*t makers. Making money is, after all, the whole point.
