A little rumor control from as good a source as there is. Beverly was sitting in GOC completing some unrelated work and pleasantly fielded a few questions regarding class dates/composition.

- The good news: she almost laughed in my face when I mentioned a re-interview for the guys that've already been through the process. The only thing they check is records and employment history to determine what you've been doing during the swim. She really did not know what I was talking about (actually, she did laugh in my face!).

- More good news: she confidantly said that the pool will be emptied with classes Mar/Apr/May or Apr/May/Jun!!

- Kinda good news: probably only another 15 to 20 guys this year.

- More kinda good news: the application window will open soon but for a short period of time. Get'em ready if you're interested...there's going to be a mad dash!

Good luck and try to stay as dry as possible.

Leroy, how's it going down south!

Wow, that is some great news. However, all of these things bring a new question to mind, and it might be disturbing:

What in the fresh hell were you doing in GOC? I don't even know where that is. Can you just "go there" and hang out? I can see it now, "Quick, there's a pilot here, cover all the screens, clear all the tables, erase all the dryboards, put some 2 day old cookies out and maybe he'll just go away". That's OK, it's just like the Maddog, ya learn something new everyday.

Like I said though, that is great news, hope this source is better than some of the other ones that have been floating around.

They'd have to make some phone calls pretty quick for March.

I just about puked with excitement reading that post! Very good news, but a March class date for me would be next to impossible without burning a lot of bridges ...........................................................................................................................Does someone have a match I could use?

By the way, I wouldn't be at all surprised if when they do start calling, they don't give you much, if any notice. A buddy in my new hire class was called on Friday afternoon with a Monday class date. He lived on the west coast, jumped in his car and hauled booty for Memphis. When they called me, she called me on a Friday also and wanted me there the following Monday. Luckily, that was 2 weeks before the "earliest available" date that I gave them, so I didn't feel to bad saying "no can do". She just said "see ya in 2 weeks then". That was in the day when they hired 700 guys in 1 year.

That being said, the way things are now, I'm not sure if I would have the stones to say "Can I come later?" Pack your bag and be ready!

TTboy,
Sippin' fruity cocktails by the lagoon...
Great news from Graceland. I've got my cell phone in hand waiting for the call (yes, it works down here!)

I spoke with KD today.

They ARE NOT going to reinterview the poolies. The stuff stated above is true- just another background check and drug test. Medicals need to be First class, and FE Written in the last 2 years.

She said classes would be 8-12 people. She said she HOPES to give 30 days notice for starting class. She said she thinks it is looking good and could happen soon.

Commuter Schedule

As a commuter I:

Show for a p.m. jumpseat @ 9:30, t/off at 10:30
Arrive in Memphis @ Midnight

Check email, drink coffee and eat popcorn until -

Showtime! Normally @ 02:00sh - to as late as 03:00

T/off @ an hour later - generally one leg out and arrive b/t 6-7 a.m.

Layover until showtime, @ 9:30 p.m.

Operate into Memphis arriving again @ midnight, do it all over again

This is my night schedule this month, yow

Yes and No,

The 727 schedules vary widely throughout the system.

From: One leg out, one back
Two legs out, two back
Out and Back's = one or two legs out = same as the Airbus

Hotel standby's - pretty senior still, I think.
Airport standby's - pretty junior still, unless there's a commercial deadhead out to say, KOAK to do that for a week, then some senior westcoast guys might enjoy doing that.

Weekend layovers - sweet if you live there or have a "girlfriend"

In general, a lot of varitey, even trips to Canada and down to Mexico and their SIBA stuff through S. America

Don't forget there is a lot of day flying too.

Any 727 guys want to clarify ..

FNG Schedule

For the Junior 727 Guys:

On Reserve.

Normally 6 days on 4 Days off (or so). Normally get notified of a trip assignment around 10 am for a trip sometime after midnight. Catch a nap - go to bed early - get up for the 2 am showtime. Sometimes it is a good trip - sometimes not so much. You fly that trip and hopefully layover somewhere decent. Show time that night is normally around 9 pm. Fly back into Memphis - call scheds and hope they don't turn you into another trip. If so - catch a nap at the AOC and do the next trip. If they don't have another trip - it's back to the crashpad for Groundhog Day.

We have been getting used quite a bit lately. Makes the weeks go by quick.

They tell me it is much nicer when you get a line.

Hope you guys are here living the dream SOON.

The new reserve system is not too bad. You are only on the hook for a flight for 12 hours at a time. This allows you time to do other stuff once your duty perod is over. The trips vary. Some are GREAT. Others are COLD.

Good Luck.

as a total package the company and crews sound like a good place to work.

Reserve is everywhere and flying is flying, I guess its the people and the overnights or overdays that make the career.

Thanks for the info and maybe someday when they need Fat overhweight pilots with no PIC time I will get a call, until then I will keep swinging the gear and hoping.
