Heard from a check airman that he heard from our VP of Flight Ops or someone like at a recent meeting the rumor going around basecamp that FedEx is iterested in World for the MD-11's. Anyone at FedEx hear such nonsense?
 
I've heard it. But it was at Gemini. In 1999.

Yeah...I started that one about a month ago. Saying something on the crew bus just loud enough so others can hear is lots of fun! Back in GWI, a buddy and I started a rumor about rabid cats set loose by the Republican Guard. Took less than a day before we heard it as gospel from people "in the know." Rumors are fun.

I'd imagine especially the World's MD11s that are owned by UPS, right? :)

Only the former DAL (3 of them) are owned by UPS. The rest of them are WOA's by lease. 6 of which have cargo doors in them the other 5 still have pax seats.

Rumors you just gotta love'em!
 
Nobody said anything about taking the pilots.


MD11DRVR. I meant to tell you this rumor the other night. You know the guy who told me on the way to drop me off to go home.
 
World just renegoiated their leases on all but the three UPS MD-11's. I think that those leases come due in 2012.

I am not sure anyone implied they would take the pilot group; However, If they did FEDEX would be getting a very talented group of aviators.

Albie, Is this comment meant in fun or are you insulting the pilot group at WOA. Before I get into a urinary olypics I would like it clarified. World has many hours of operatiing the MD-11 for the last 15-16 years safely. We have had a few isolated incidents with the MD-11 but I would put our record up against FEDEX's any day.

Step 2: Remove from anal cavity.

Step 3: Reread entire thread.
 
Read the entire thread and missed the point. I apoligize. There is no doubt FEDEX has a great group of aviators. But there is no doubt that World also has a talented group as well and I may have jumped the gun to defend my brothers in aviation. Next FEDEX crew I come across in ANC will have a round on me.

WOT that is just funny. I have too apoligize as my transparent belly button had a failure this morning. I am all better now. Again I apoligize.
 
MD11s

Based on our 777 buy that has "we need dependable long haul lift now" written all over it. I'm thinking FDX is interested in any MD11, owned or leased by anyone, anywhere.
 
I'm not buying the "I started this rumor." Especially since the rumor is over at World too, not just at FedEx. Heard over the weekend, FedEx was at World a couple months ago looking at how viable it could be. Our PAX birds will soon total only three. World has two more conversion slots on '07. That would be 8 MD-11Fs for FedEx, not bad.

Maybe because we have MD-11 type ratings. Even if they don't take the pilots, all the World pilots would be hired in front of you.:smash:

Did I forget to mention I have friends at World. Rumors are easy to start and easier to spread. Not saying that there isn't some truth to this one...
 
"...So, you're the one..."

I wondered how much to believe when the pilot that told me stated he heard from his sister's husband who knows a pilot a FedEx. Our flight attendants will be happy to hear that.

But since I'm all about not killing a good rumor, the real story, the husband's friend at FedEx is a "big" exec.
