Just curious, Can anyone give me an idea on how the commute is from Hawaii to Anchorage? Options for flights to/from? How does it compare to the commute from LAX or SAN? Know anyone who's doing either?

I start training on 10 July for the MD-11 out of Anchorage. We don't plan to move to Anchorage, and I'm just looking at options for places to live. (obviously, I've got to get through training first!)
Thanks...

I looked into this a few months back....I think SEA is actually the easiest of the west coast cities.

To commute from Hawaii to anchorage, you still need to get to the west coast and get on Alaska Air from there. Hawaiian flies a direct Hnl-Anc 2 or 3 times a week depending on the season, but it is a charter flight for Hawaiian Vacations so they also have to okay the jumpseaters.

Going to work you can take a FedEx J/S HNL-OAK then connect to another FedEx flight OAK-ANC. You can aso hop in a taxi over to SFO to catch the SFO-ANC flight.. I believe you'll find these flights operate 5 days a week, sat, sun are a problem. If you try to check the jumpseat system HNL-ANC it shows nothing, have to go to the individual legs. There are also HNL-LAX flights, not sure if there are any LAX-ANC.

Hawaiian Airlines doesn't go HNL to ANC anymore?

Both HA and NWA go ANC HNL but it is spotty. NWA depends on the time of the year and day of the week. HA is charter.
