Fedex App window is now open to new profiles.

Simply go to: http://pilot.fedex.com

You have to click on the 'Pilot Careers' text link on the left side of the screen to access the logon and new users screen.

In the past the link was in the middle of the page, but it isn't as of about five minutes ago.

Hurry and get your app in before the window opens!!!

Here comes the hiring train...

So, I applied back in 2000 and kept it up to date until I couldn't access the site any longer. Now I'm trying to log on and update my profile and my password no longer works. Do I have to reapply and submit another $50.00?

It seems to be the case. I just did most of the app and it wouldn't take without ponying up a credit card number for $50. I wonder if they'll refund it for California applicants like last time. Everything else is so expensive out here, any break would help!

Good luck to all.

PS, They also ask if you are furloughed, when your furlough started, is your airline still operating, and whats its name! Sure hope there isn't some profiling going on there!

schafjet,

I applied in june 2000 and updated every month until we couldn't back in sept/oct 2003. Last month the site started letting us reupdate for the first time since. I updated last month and just now 4/5/04. Maybe if you did not update in March 2004 (last month) the system kicked you out because sept 2003 to mar 2004 is 6 months and I think you need to update at least every 6 month or they kick you out. Hope its not the case though. Good luck.

Update!

It is very important to update your profile every month or so, but I'm pretty sure you didn't get kicked out of the system for not updating in 6 months. I was hired over a year and a half ago and my file was still in the system as of a month or so ago, and needless to say I hadn't updated it.

Herewego: The SCP has stated that we will only hire furloughees from USAirways. I guess you could call that profiling. The rationale was that there were simply too many applicants from the general population to try to differentiate one furloughee from another, or something like that. I'm not defending it, I'm just repeating what was said.

I'd keep trying to update and if it wouldn't update I would start over and at some point give KD a call to straighten things out. I'll bet they will refund your money if you paid the first time, but who knows. Either way, its probably 50 bucks well spent.

Good luck.

We are currently not accepting new profiles. Please check back with us later.

Am I missing something here? Still looks to me like they aren't accepting new profiles.

rstev1955:

I just went and checked the site again after your last post.

Go to 'Pilot Careers', then 'Profile Form', then click the 'Submit or Update Profile' link in the top middle of the page.

Hope this helps...

Okay sorry....

After about 25 tries I finally got in. Took about 10 refreshes to get some of the screens to come up, including the payment screen, but....looks like I am in.

THANKS !!

I had updated mine in March as well--and printed out a hard copy in case I had to see Judge Judy about my $50.00. I did have trouble today at first so I had to use the password help feature. (The hard copy from March definitely helped with the info stuff) I never received the e-mail with my password, but I was able to log in after I supplied all of the info. Had to refresh alot as well. Details are sketchy, but I'm in.

Mine is still in.. you should have to pay again.

Do you have to have the mins to submit? Hope to get on sometime in the next decade once I grab some turbine PIC.

Smokey,
From the website:

Q: What if I don't have 1,000 hours pilot in command time?
A: While the minimum is currently 1,000 hours PIC, we welcome your profile in order to track your progress. And, remember you can update as often as you want but at least once per year to remain active.

Get your credit card fired up!

Advice for Furloughed Types

I'm curious what the advice from current FedEx pilots would be for furloughed (other than US Air) types.

Is it even worth applying if you're furloughed? Is there any reasonable chance that the policy will soften, i.e. resign seniority with job offer?

I understand the philosophy of "just go ahead and apply regardless," but I would like to know if it's completely worthless. For that matter, if you check certain blocks on the app where it asks if you're furloughed, does it even allow you to proceed?

Also, I understand in the past there have been pilots who got an interview by taking a non-flying FedEx job. Would a furloughed pilot be interviewed if he was working as a courier?

Thanks for any input!

OK

Straight from the CP...Will will NOT hire any furloughed pilots. If you are furloughed you can either A) get a job at FedEx in another department and then try to transfer or B) go to work for a commuter and apply.

FedEx got burned pretty good during the last recession in the early 90's where they hired a bunch of furloughs (that resigned their seniority numbers) but ended up leaving anyway when they got called back.

Honestly, if you're furloughed save the $50.00 unless you have a half of dozen current FedEx pilots that would volch for you. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, just being honest.

Purple Tail,
I appreciate your reply and ESPECIALLY the honesty. Was your comment about knowing "half a dozen FedEx pilots" tongue in cheek, or do you really think that would matter? I do have a couple of pilots there that would vouch for me, but I'm sure there are plenty of furloughed folks who have that and more. I doubt FedEx wants to make special exceptions or that would just cause even more problems for them, but obviously, I don't know.

I'm not sure I understand the "get a job with a commuter" option. How does that affect my ability to still go back to the airline that furloughed me? Does the chief pilot really view that as a different scenario?

Thanks again for the post.

OK

Exception

The SCP said that we wouldn't hire any furloughs from airlines other than USAirways. I had 3 or 4 USAirways furloughees in my new hire class in 02.

THe way I read the SCP, if you have resigned already and working for a regional you will be looked at like everybody else. Plus, if you can take the time to throw boxes or get in the training department or corporate flight department you will get looked at after 3 years.

IF you are furloughed from USAirways I would definitely apply.
