Does Fedex care if you are working as a sim instructor? Or do you have to be actively flying to be considered for a M&G or an interview?

When I went thru the M&G and interview process from Sep 05 thru Jan 06 I was told they wanted to see a minimum of 100 hrs of actual flying time in the last 12 months.

I think most guys that get on board have much, much more currency then that --- the lower # is there for the retiring field-grade or senior level military pilots who are at the end of a 20-25 yr career, who fly their desk more then their jet.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info!

I've been told that sim instructing would keep you viable for an interview but flying is better. Flying a desk for more than 6 months prior to an interview would probably be detrimental for most people.

When I did my M&G (Sep '05) and Interview (Feb '06) I was in a non-flying military job on my way out. I hadn't flown regularly since Nov '04. I was renting a Piper Seminole every 4-6 weeks to keep current. They had no problem with that. I was hired in Mar '06 and started in Oct '06.

That sounds great. I think I was very close to a M&G when Fedex put the hold on all hiring because of this age 65 fiasco. I was so mad! Hopefully it'll crank up again soon.
