Does anybody have any info on Federal Reserve Flying. i.e. do they have their own A/C, do they subcontract etc.....

thanks

We currently haul stuff for the fed on contract.

I'll try to help out a little more than the last post.

The "We fly for the fed" is so helpful.

The fed contracts out all work to be flown. The 3 major companies that I know of flying it are Airnet, ACT (american check transport, I think) and Ameriflight. Airnet had a lot of the contracts but then we contract most of it back out to ACT. Not sure how much Ameriflight has but I know they fly a little of it. Some of the fed sorting centers are closing, which means the work has to be flown to the next city. Omaha for example is being closed. So we will have to fly it to Des Moines or Chicago. Checks being flown have about 2 more years before they stop. New electric imaging is allowing the fed and banks to send it through wires. Read about the Check 21 or C21 act for more info. I don't know where to find it, but it was passed by Congress 3-4 months ago. Airnet has been pushing hard to get other work than Fed or bank checks. We now have about 30-35% none bank work and 7-8% charter (Jet Rides). Both are expanding fast. I think Ameriflight already flew other work but I really don't know much about them. ACT not sure what will happen to them.

Just to explain. There is a difference between fed checks and bank checks. The fed doesn't pay much to move their work. The commercial banks pay much better. Hope this helps a little more.

I believe that the Fed Reserve now has to document what they pay for their transporting of checks....i believe it is called the Airnet Clause in C21.

i could be wrong

Epps out of PDK has a fed to fed contract . We hub out of PHL with Bank Air and US Jets. We've got 7 runs in the east.

BankAir

BankAir has many check runs throughout this country -- Lears & MU-2s.

Check 21 is an interesting development. This has been discussed on this site several times.
