Has anyone been interviewed lately at Fed EX that hasn't had an internal recommendation? Second question does anyone have an idea when UPS is going to open the on-line application process again? Thank-you to all who reply.

I heard this from another line guy here at Brown and not anybody from HR, so you may want to take this with a grain of salt.

Rumor is that they received close to 20,000 apps and are not planning on opening up for a while. Now, I don't know how many of them are actually qualified, but I would venture to guess that HR is going to be very busy for quite some time.

Again, I heard this from out on the line and not from anybody "official".

My understanding is that it never technically closed. Though the advertisement for flight officer positions has been removed, you may still submit a pilot resume at www.upsjobs.com.

I don't know if it has happened or not, but you are certainly fighting an uphill battle against a stack of applicants that probably do have recommendations (if you don't have one).

If you are interested, start networking. If you have been in the commuter/regional/airline/military flying business for long, I'll bet you would be surprised how many people you know at FedEx.
