New to LV, looking for a flying club or a casual flight school to get checked out at and maybe do some instructing on the weekends. Please, no more "You need eppaulettes to fly that C-172, son" kinda flight schools. Anyone who knows of a possible airplane looking for a 1/2 share partnership would be cool too. Thanks.

Hey,

I just moved to LV a few months ago and was in your same predicament. For as big as Vegas is there are not a lot of rental places. There are two places at North Las Vegas, "First Flight" and "West Air", down in Henderson they've got i think it's "Desert Sun Aviation" and over in Boulder City you've got "Air Excel". I do believe all of them have 172s. Cheapest plane I could find out here is $85/hr (the 172s at Boulder and Henderson). If you find anything better please let me know!

Hey I'm an instructor at North Las Vegas, I can agree, I'm not into the eppaulettes either. I work at First Flight, we have a few 172's that cost from $110 to $115/hour + $40 for the instructor, (checkout purposes). Our planes do cost quite a bit, we have year 2000 and up Cessna's. Not cheap obviously. The checkouts are similiar to a Flight Review, they're not as simple as most places. But obviously thats because safety is our main concern. There is also West Air at VGT, Desert Southwest Airlines at HND, and Air Excel in Boulder City. Currently we're not hiring any instructors. And I'm not sure who has the cheapest rental rate in Vegas, but I just thought I'd let you know, if you have any other question, I'll do my best to help you out. Take care!
