Yes ALL ATPS is the best way to go. I did it three times and passed with 99%. Not bad at all.

My advice to you is to buy the book and study b4 you go all atps. Study FEX only...and don't waste your time on the rest of the exams.
Good luck.

I did mine with Lone Eagle in Scottsdale -- FE written, ATP written and ATP practical over a 4 day period, but you can just the FE or ATP writtens if you want. Even though ALL ATPs is just a short drive down the road, I decided to fly to PHX based on recommendations from friends who had done both programs. My biggest gripe with ALL ATPs was that they sit you in front of a computer until you memorize the answers, while Lone Eagle spends about 10 hours teaching you how to work all the problems and take the test. BTW, all 8 in my class came out with 100% on their FE, so I guess they're doing something right.

Good luck in the hunt,

Z

For the FEX written, I just borrowed the prep book from a friend and studied it, then took the test at the local Laser Grade testing site. The FEX prep book is much smaller and easier to study than the ATP (which I did at ALL ATPs). I was ready for the test after a week of studying for 2-3 hrs in the evenings, and I got 100%. This method saved me $$ and time, plus after I was done, I actually had some knowledge to take with me.

I have an FE written that I will never use that I would love to sell you... but seriously I did both my ATP and FE written at Lone Eagle. I got a 99 on the ATP and 98 on the FE with only a couple of hours outside the seminar studying.

I have taken the FE written about 4 times, first back in 91 when there was and FEJ, FE and FEB (or something like that). The first time through I got the books and really learned how to do all the problems and passed both exams with 98 and 96. I felt like I could actually do the weight and balance, cargo shift and performance problems. The next time I took the test in 98 at ALLATPs and although I didn't "learn" anything (except the answers) I passed the exam with a 100 after spending only 1 day (and $250 or so) worrying about the thing. After my written expired for the third time I went back to ALLATPs and again nailed the exam with only 1 day invested (and another $250!). I usually recommend to people, if they have time, to just get the books and study and go take the test for free at a FSDO or some other FAA approved test facility. I think its important to at least be comfortable with the problems at some point before taking the test because someday (pretty unlikely in this day and age of computers) someone might actually expect you to demonstrate some of that knowledge. The computer study prep at ALLATPs is very effective in producing a solid passing grade but you won't really learn the material.

thanks

All good advice. I really appreciate all the good information posted by kind-hearted souls on this website. Wishing all of you Peace, Joy, and Happiness!

FedEx2003plz,

I bought a Gleim's study guide (an excellent reference for about $27.00), took two weeks to go through the entire book, and took the test at the local airport (Laser Grade for $70.00). I think it's a lot cheaper than 1-800-ALL ATPS and more effective learning. Just my $0.02's worth. Happy Holidays.

All ATP's. Go invest one day and make an impressive grade. If you ever get a job that requires that knowledge (727FE for example) you will learn that stuff in class. IMHO it is better to have a 99 on the test and not understand all of the questions than to make an 80 and understand a few of the questions. Like I said, you will learn it in class.

All ATPs

I'm not even bothering with any other method. When I take the test for the third time it will be with All ATPs. One day and done. Hopefully taking the test for the third time that is. Right before my Fed Ex interview. Otherwise...."what shoe size was that miss?":D

IMO The best way between All ATP's speed but $$ and Gleims home study for cheap is "Sheppardair.com". They have an excellent program. For 75 bucks for the ATP and FE you get a small program downloaded to your computer that enables you to access the same greatly reduced database that All ATP's uses. You just log in from home - study, log out when done. Find a CATS/LASERGRADE facility in your area and take the test. EVERY question I saw on each test I had seen before. I got a 97% on the ATP and 100% on the FE and I ain't that bright. I thought it was a great cross between the two preferred methods. I got to study more, on my time, then take the test when I wanted. Mike will refund your $$ if you don't pass with at least 90%. They also have a superior ATP program for guys in the midwest. (It's on the field at Sheppard AFB, TX).
