Need some quick help.
Friend of mine is looking to take the FE written for Fed Ex. Does he take the FE Basic or FE Added Rating?
Does it matter about flight time? He has Military and his currently in Hong Kong flying the EMB 170 for HK Express.

Thanks,
Rick

i am pretty sure he needs to take the FE basic, unless he already has a FE ticket with say a turbo-prop rating. if this is the case he needs the turbojet rating oh his FE certificate.

Take the FEX, F/E Turbojet basic.

Recommend these guys for test prep, only $75. http://www.sheppardair.com/

I second that recommendation. I used them a year ago and made a 99% with minimal prep time. They have a lot fewer questions than The Red Book and guarantee that every question on your test will be covered in their program.

Thanks for the help.

I used sheppardair.com for the test prep. Best thing since sliced bread. Download the prep, and study at your convienence. In addition, there is an awesome gouge sheet you can print out and study. Well worth the dough.

Just a side note. He will not be able to fly for FedEx until he has returned to the US for more than 5 years. You can't work for FedEx if you lived outside the US in the last 5 years (except for military assignments).

Direct quote from the FedEx pilot qualification website:

"Ability to obtain clearance from United States Postal Service for handling or access to U.S. mail, which includes FBI fingerprint check, and candidate must have resided in the United States for the last five consecutive years (except for U.S. military assignments)"

Yet another little hurdle that will prevent a few hundred otherwise "qualified" people from even applying. Well done for pointing it out. Will save countless time and energy for wasted applications that will simply be discarded.
