I recently read that neither of the 3 crew members were ever able to return to flying. I was very surprised as this happened 12 yrs ago. God, I hope they all are being paid more than generous coin by Fedex for this. How much disability pay are they recieving and what kind of injuries did they all sustain to be permanantly grounded? They definitly are hero's for preventing a "mini 9/11!"

Thread creep.... Just flew with a retired Navy guy that was that psycho's instructor. Said he would play the race card frequently so they would just continue to pass him on.

How could he play the race card? According to the DOE's Human Genome Project, there is only one race.

I just read that book a couple of weeks ago. It's an amazing story.

All three of them had the living snot pasted out of them, mostly by sustaining head wounds, and one of them (the FO) developed epilepsy after his skull was crushed. That's permanently grounding. The FE was literally hammered on his head, several times. The captain got off relatively light (only had to have his ear reattached) and I would have thought he'd recover enough to fly again. Sorry to hear that didn't worn out.

So will all 3 of them get full pay to age 60 as if they still flew for Fedex? I sure as hell hope so for what they've had to go through not to mention THEY are probably the reason Fedex is still around today!!

FN FAG What's your angle...
Take you're argument up with the DOE...but I must warn you, they are guarded by some of the most sophisticated security guards Wackenhut has to offer.

Wtf Over?
The Human Genome Project, D.O.E. did the unraveling of the human genome and found no evidence in DNA that could discern a Negroid from a Caucasoid to a Mongoloid. Imagine that homie?

In case you didn't know it, D.O.E. is the Department o' Energy. One of their big security contractors is Wackenhut. If you want to argue their facts, you'll have to take it up with the D.O.E., but you'll have to get through Wackenhut to do it. Good luck and carry on. Here's a link, if you're bored, brother.

Don't worry, you're not crazy. His posts are making less and less sense lately. If you threaten to take his guns, he'll be coherent. Otherwise...I guess it depends on the meds.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense.

Genetically, what is it that keeps one person from getting blue eyes, or blonde hair or even in a hispanic person deep brown or almost black eyes?

Obviously it's something passed on from the parent, just like skin pigmentation, but all of those have almost nothing to do with the BASIC DNA makeup of what seperates us from a rheesus monkey. I'm no doctor but I'm curious what the difference is between actual DNA and the add-on markers that tend to carry things like appearance, intelligence, and predisposition towards certain diseases, but I have a ton of doctors, nurses, etc in the family so I hear a lot of medical theory discussions like that and I'm probably pre-disposed to be interested in these kind of discussions. ;)

We're all human, and I'm getting pretty sick of the whole race/gender thing... time for people to let it go. I'm sure that's what Fin was talking about, just didn't articulate well, probably to stir debate. :)

/rant

Incidentally, I'd love to hear from a FedEx pilot exactly what their disability pay is given that it happened while on-duty. I don't doubt any of us would have responded in kind simply to save our own skin and don't think they did anything more heroic than the next person, but still... when things like this happen at work, you'd HOPE your company would take care of you.

I'm might be willing to bet a C-note they're only drawing 66% or even 50%, whatever Long-Term Disability is in their contract. Any takers?

That's what they are saying, the physical characteristics that we use to define race, are simply the results of the body's adaptation to the environment.

They are also saying that there are more genetic differences between members of the same "race" than there of people of different "races".

Which pretty much means that what we define as race, is a social construction. So, mixaphorically speaking, what's a race card?

Society can use this to it's advantage, can you imagine how hard it would be to win a racial discrimination lawsuit if there was no proof that there were individual races?

1. Yes, the bubbas on #705 were heros. No question. If Fred Smith isn't taking good care of them, then he's more of a soul-less weasel than I thought.
2. Calloway's actions hurt us all. The dweebs at the TSA have read the book too.

Yeah. Ease up on FN FAL.

Don't feed him, though.

HA HA!! I love a man with sense of humor!!! The race card, a crock of $hit... I tell all my F/A's, I want my coffee like you--Hot,black and strong. Strangely, only the male F/A's smile at me.

Pilot: "I like my coffee like I like my women."

F/A: "What - dumb?"

Coffee like women

I like my coffee like I like my women.....Black as my heart......Strong, Black, a little oily. Put a little in your mouth and get it keeps you up all night.

I read the book "Hijacked", and had the chance to listen to all three crewmembers at Osh Kosh (they were the headline speakers there about 4 or 5 years ago).

My understanding is that they are on full pay-only status until they retire. I know that the FO does have epilepsy, and I believe the FE sustained severe head trauma that disqualified him from ever flying again as well.

Rumor has it that the FAA mandated the Captain take a psychological evaluation in order to go back to work and he declined.

Another rumor running around is that some suit a few years ago tried to make the crew go on Long Term Disability (somewhat of a pay cut, although no taxes are paid on LTD) and Fred himself fired the suit.

I believe all three are real heroes and deserve our everlasting respect and admiration.

They definitely saved the company a huge tragedy, if it's true what the poster said about keeping them on full pay, that's awesome. It's sad to see that they had to suffer through the injuries, but It's nice to know that Fred Smith took care of the crew.

Wow. This thread started about a hijacking of a FedEx aircraft, and just 11 posts later, it turned into a genetics discussion.

Heh heh... You know flightinfo... they don't call it a thread "hijack" for nothing. ;)

Good for Fred, nice to hear those guys are at least on full payroll for their suffering.
