The other day I was departing RWY 32 in ANC and saw the Orbis DC-10 parked at the FDX facilites. Just wondering if FDX acquired that DC-10? Is it getting the convertion to a MD-10?
Thanks.

I see the same thing in MSP, there is a UAL color DC-10 at FedEx, just wonder how fast they try to get thoes painted, the one in MSP has been that color and comming there for a few months.

FedEx is a sponsor of the Orbis program and provides the major maintenance for their DC-10. I'm sure that's why you saw their DC-10 on our ramp at ANC. We also provide their flight training and a pool of pilot volunteers.
As far the the ex-UAL "grey ghosts," we've got a couple (at least) that have been painted that way for well over a year. My understanding is that they're on a short-term lease that keeps getting extended, so that's why they haven't been painted purple.
