I just went to an interview at American Eagle. As a Juvenile I had 2 misdemeanor convictions for theft. This has been at least 13 yrs ago and I was 16 at the time. When I was at the interview they asked about everything in our background. I asked what about Juvenile Offenses? They didn't know?? But they did say if I didn't come forward and they found out later then I would be disqualified, unfortunately they let me go very soon after I explained my juvenile offenses, which was right before my tech interview and it was not a pleasant experience really, so I'm wondering if they were possibly trying to weed me out because of my offenses?
Does anyone know how far back the FBI checks go?? I heard 10 yrs and that Juvenile offenses do not count against you. I am wondering If I'm literally screwed because of mistakes I made when I was a teenager? Any info would be appreciated.

Hey guy, don't know much about the legalities here, but if the F double A gave you your ratings and license, I wouldn't sweat it. Just be forthcoming and all will be ok. Nothing to be ashamed about.

Generally speaking.. Misdeameanor's are "not" reported to the FBI and hence the CHRC should show "clean". If you were convicted of a felony, then it may be on the CHRC (depending on juristiction).

Once again, 10 years is the normal cutoff, but it can go beyond that if necessary. The necessary part is "if" the aiport which issue's your SIDA badge questions it.

I can't explain Eagle, but keep on interviewing.. don't let one company make your mind up....

Get Real

Get Real dude....of coarse you can get thru this and get hired. Don't lose your confidence. Get Cherly Gage.....Checklist for Success.....learn how to talk about your problem areas....get good at it and comfortable. You will not get thru this without preparation. HR loves a good success story....and that is what you are.
Get motivated and get prepared....you will see your dreams come true.
Somebody give this guy all the links to the sites for people who are not perfect and make mistakes but succeed anyway. I gotta go.

Just recieved my FBI report. Nothing, only a stamp on the back of the finger print form that says "No Records".

So, my reserch has led me to this (for me):
State Driving records: Nothing (Goes back three years).
NDR: Nothing
FBI: Nothing
Clerk of Courts records: Everything.

From many of the applications that I have filled out, They ask for the COUNTY that the offense occured. The only reason I can figure for requesting this detail is to contact the Clerk of Courts and obtain the records. I am not sure if you can have this record expunged or not?

In SD this record is loaded into the onboard PC in police cruisers to be displayed on the dash mounted monitor. So when the police pull you over, run your plate, or confront you, they have all your history and background.

Think about it...do you think an airline, especially a regional airline, is going to hire a guy what don't know when to keep his mouth shut?
