I know about the cost of msp, besides that does it have any other issues? Ican fly one for about 6500 hours before the msp cost plus that of the a 200 (3.0 mil)would add up to a 20f-5 purchase(5.0-5.5 mil). does anyone have the exact msp cost for an atf3 this year.
Well, you already know of the cost issue of operation an ATF. IMO, however, the biggest issue with the operation of the 200 is the lack of spare engines for the fleet. The coast guard has most, if not all the spares. So when your plane goes in for an engine issue requiring removal, and it will, you'll likely be grounded.
In the long run, I think a late model retrofited F would be a better deal. But you're still going to be faced with maintaining a 30 + year old airframe.
Not sure of your price-point, but you can quickly get to the point where a 10 year old or slightly newer LR60 would make more sense. Unless of course it's a field length issue.
The msp cost is about 450 per hour per engine.. I flew SN 479, 489. They're good airplanes.. Fuel burns are almost the same as a falcon 50 believe it or not.. First hour 2700, then down to about 2200 then 2000. etc.. There is only one guy that can give you a type rating.. His name is Darrell Rahn. He lives in East Texas. There is no simulator for the 200, so insurance companies want you to go to Falcon 50 initial, due to the fact that the airplane has 50 systems in it.. If I had to choose between a 200 and a 20-5F...I don't know what I would choose its a toss up... I never had an engine issue in 2 years of flying the 200.
Coasties gave up all of their spare parts and engines to the open market as they are no longer using the 200 in ops. So, there are pieces and parts available.
CG will be flying the HU25 for a couple of more years...
There may well be some ATF3s available at some point, but I don't think that point has come yet.
