Guys, what do you think of the retrofitted da-20? We are thinking of upgrading to a bigger cabin and by outward appearances the falcon 20 is impressive. The cabin is much larger than the 800xp and the lr-60. I know they are much older, and thus maintenance will be more, but they are also a couple of million less than the xp and 60. Just looking for some comments and info, thanks.

sure

My company has a passenger DA-20 with the -5AR I believe. I hear it is a nice ride, with probably 1000nm more range than the cfm-700 aircraft (round 2200nm with the new engines), with efis, rvsm, etc. With the trailing link gear I hear it is easy to do greaser landings too, at least easier than a lear. Seems to be a real bang for the buck aircraft. Not sure if you were talking about having one re-engined or buying one. I would probably go the, find one already done route.-kingaira90

Find one already done and make sure it has anything but a Safir APU. KingAir is right about the landings. Terrific airplane all the way around, in my opinion.

Steer clear of the AR motors, the BR are the better retrofit. Maintenance is a bit higher than a newer generation aircraft and aging aircraft issues can play a part, but the purchase price will off set the budget for sometime.

Our retro-fit has had great dispatch reliability, better than 90%.

We routinely do 1700 nm legs and find it comfortable. Typical cruise is around .81 in the mid to high 30's. Starts running out of breath above FL390 unless pretty light.

PM me if you have any questions.

Oh, and dead on comment, you want the garrett APU (in-flight), the others are very lacking!!!!

fast, far, reliable, high and very cheap with impeccable falcon quality, it will keep the fracs out of your hanger $ wise because they cant come close on cost, downside, the cockpit is kind of small and cramped on the coast to coast trips...seeya
