Hey guys,

I have a couple Qs regarding range/endurance.

1. Why do we compensate if we are gliding for max range for a head/tail wind (i.e. headwind= increase IAS). Is it to save fuel?

2. Why does range increase with altitude, but endurance is best at sea level? Does it have to do with lower fuel consumptions at higher altitudes, and being able to operate at lower power settings at sea level?

3. Is the IAS for maximum range the same as your best glide speed? Or, do they differ because in one case you have no running engine with a prop that is windmilling?

4. Do the factors that affect range also affect endurance (i.e. are they the same... weight, altitude, CofG, wind). Are there other factors?

Thanks in advance.
