I know we have 30 days to notify the FAA of an address change.

Does a new address on your medical certificate qualify as this notification or is there a special form that I need to fill out?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers!

GP

There is a special form. The medical app only goes to CAMI, not the FAA.

Head over to registry.faa.gov and do it online.

Thanks for the replies.

Just went to the registry website to change my address and found that it had already been changed. The only document or application containing my new address was on my new medical certificate obtained last week.

So, I guess that the new medical actually does constitute a notification of an address change.

Cheers!

Just in case you didn't know, what matters is that your certificate matches your driver's license

I know a bunch of people that are in trouble then.

Where does it say that? Not trying to argue. Just curious because this is the first time I've ever heard that.

This is news to me, what is your reference?

I'm going to take my own advice here and look it up. Standby, I'll post what I find.

Here is what I found, There is no reference in the FAA Orders 8400 or 8700 for addresses to match a drivers license. I checked Legal Interpitations up to November 2002 and found nothing. I will list the reg and the Part 61 FOQ - I found on the subject. So if you have some reference that I do not have, please post it.

61.60 Change of address.

The holder of a pilot, flight instructor, or ground instructor certificate who has made a change in permanent mailing address may not, after 30 days from that date, exercise the privileges of the certificate unless the holder has notified in writing the FAA, Airman Certification Branch, P.O. Box 25082, Oklahoma City, OK 73125, of the new permanent mailing address, or if the permanent mailing address includes a post office box number, then the holder's current residential address.

Part 61 FOQ

QUESTION: Per § 61.60 a change in permanent mailing address requires written notification of the new permanent mailing address within 30 days to the FAA, Airman Certification Branch. May a person notify the FAA’s Airman Certification Branch by e‑mail via the Internet and, if so, does that meet the requirements of § 61.60 for notification made “in writing?”

ANSWER: Ref. § 61.60; Yes. Airman Certification Branch management agrees that notifying the FAA by e‑mail via the Internet meets the requirements of § 61.60. The Internet address to notify the FAA’s Airman Certification Branch about a change in their permanent mailing address is:

http://registry.faa.gov

At that site, you’ll find a form that may be completed to notify the FAA of a change in permanent mailing address. Other customer services and information may be found at this site.

Alright, let's look at 61.3
A person may not act as pilot in command or in any other capacity as a required pilot flight crewmember of a civil aircraft or US registry unless that person-Has a valid pilot certificat or special purpose pilot authorization issued under this part in that person's physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft when exercising the priveledges of that pilot certificate or authorization. (2)Has a photo identification that is in that person's physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft......It is not exactly spelled out in the FAR's, but the photo ID must match that of the pilot certificate to prove that the person is the same person on both the certificate and license. Correct me if you have any other suggestions, but this is how I have interpreted the rule.

What must "match"? The name? The photo? The date of birth? The place of birth? All of the above? Any of the above??

What if your photo ID is a passport? Which is what I carry. I don't believe that has a "current" address on it.

What say to that??

I didn't read anywhere in that speal that said specifically the address on your pilot certif must match your photo ID.

It just said you must have a photo ID to accompany your license. So that, I would assume, that you are who your license says you are. Not you live where your licenses says you live.

My two cents...

Anybody just use their parent's, aunt&uncle, etc's house?
