The article was written by a laywer who sells his services to pilots.

So there would be some self intrest there.

You may want to be careful listening to a weatherman who always forcasts rain when he has a umbrella business on the side.

However, I think any professional should know all he can about his business. There are too many airman who know just enough to get into trouble. Some do so over and over again.
