I heard through the grapevine that the Feds been camping out in yalls maintenance hanger going through some stuff? Maybe your engine program now in question too.

You guys might remember a little over a year ago when the Feds took away our engine overhaul program at Cherry... We went from 10,000 hour overhauls to GE recommended 5,000 hour overhauls. Well it looks like it might finally be coming down the pipes to every other 135 carrier. I guess USA Jet and Kalitta are next? Any Ameristar guys heard the rumors yet?

Good luck if it is the engines thing, we still have a lot of planes parked without engines because of that.

On-Condition

No life limit on our CF-700's. They are in an on-condition program, until reaching 7200 hours when they are OHed. Got inspected by FAA last year, no findings.

Thats kind of what we had yip but we could take ours to 10,000 hours. Just wait, I think its gonna happen to everyone. Just give it some time.

Ours are good for 10,500 hours, or is it 11,500?. then a major OH, repeat! this is the first i am hearing about the feds spending time at HQ. either way, planes are still flying.

Or maybe they finally figured out that the planes aren't so MX free as they appear, or the FAA is finally looking at 135/121 on demand the way they should have all along.

I really wonder if anyone at the FAA has ever flown 135? Seems like they have their heads in the sand when it comes to maintenance/duty times/etc.

I seriously doubt they have a clue. I was ramp checked a few months ago and the guy wanted to know when my last ELT check was done. I kept telling him we are on a progressive maintenance program and that the ELT check was covered by either the A, B, C, or D check. (This was a part 91 only aircraft) He never understood. He didn't even know what a progressive maintenance program is.

Watched the feds do a ramp check on a Canadian registered BH205 in SLC yesterday. Five (5) feds and one small helicopter. Talk about over board. From what I overheard, all the feds could find to ding them on was that the helicopter, which was being ferried to Mexico to fight fires down there had a ferry tank installed, that was installed in accordance with Canadian regulations, 4 or 5 cans engine oil and a gallon of Hyd fluid without hazmat paperwork.

They can look as much as they want, if the work is done by the approved book you have no problems. We just came out of our NetJets audit as a Gold Plus.

Why would netjets audit you?
