The Hornet is a great overall jet, flew it for 4 years. I'm your basic knucklehead average American but in that jet I have gunned Vipers (outstanding ACM bird) and blown up more stuff than I should have been allowed.
Right now you have Hornet drivers on carriers close to where the action is. Long love Marine and Naval aviation.
