My question is will my eyesight keep me out of any military aircraft? I do have 20/20 corrected but uncorrected I'm blind as a bat.

My situation is this. I'm 25 and have a degree in Spanish. My passion is flying and I want to use that passion to serve this country. Ultimately I would like to fly commercially, but I would love offer my service to this country as well. My Grandfather was a Nightfighter in WWII and I would love to serve with the AirForce as he did. I have my commercial/multi and have about 450hrs ttl.

A friend of mine told me I could get a waiver for my eyesight if I had someone who was willing to sponser me. I need more info here. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

Go For It!

I'm sorry I can't give you any information on the eyesight thing but I would try my hardest to fly no matter what happens. There are waviers and plenty of them but theres no telling. I wouldn't take no for an answer. Also the air force is hard enough to get a slot so try not to be one sided on what branch you want to fly for. I know for sure the navy has eye corrections once you're in but I'm not sure how that works. I'm sure someone on this forum knows. Good Luck!!!

I believe that its 20/70 uncorrected (or close to that) for most services. If you can get to 20/20 hopefully it wont be a problem.
Best of luck,
Jeff
