interviewing with both in the next couple of weeks. any ideas on which job to take if offered? also, where should i go to research these guys? i know their websites have info, but anything else would be nice.

Depends on where you want to live. I would *think* that TSA has a quicker upgrade, but the QOL there might be worse. Just worry about getting a job offer before panicking over who to pick. You may not get either and then what?

Good luck.

Dude, just the fact that you are asking this question disqualifies you from working at XJT. They want people with brains.

what's wrong with this question? which would you prefer?

jackass...

lemme know so I can choose the other one.

As far as the research goes, the web is obvious. Annual reports, news articles, press releases are what i'm looking for. When coex was interviewing before they wanted you to know current stock prices, details on current press releases, etc. Most of that info is on their website, but maybe someone intelligent has other good sources.

The point being you talk like you've received offers from both companies already and you haven't even walked into the interview! That's a little arrogant to some...

Well I am not sure if he sounds too arrogant. Maybe just curious is all, he has two interviews and he is probably concentrating on the interviews as well. Notice, he said if offered? That is not implying that he is thinking that he will get the job. I am not gonna take sides on this...I just think it is an honest question, an innocent one at that. I would think that it would be a good thing to research both companies and weigh the pros and cons of each one. I don't think that he came in here with the intent of being rude, arrogant/cocky; just wanted an honest answer is all.

Just my .02cents

I tend to agree with you, but I'm pointing out why the other guy jumped on him. Like I said before, don't count the chickens before they hatch.

Totally agreed upon.... I just think some people are too quick to jump on someone and flame them... for just asking an honest question.... we are pilots and pilots tend to have a healthy ego...some more than others;)

Yep. Agreed. Ask everyone at CHQ. I have the world's largest ego. That's kinda' funny cuz I don't recall having one. I always thought I was insecure and self-conscious. Guess my shrink was wrong and all my ex-colleagues are right! Go figure!

let me re-phrase

IF someone were to ask.... Which would be a better choice given the recent economic situation.....

TSA or ExpressJet?

Not that I HAVE a choice, but, If I DID......

which would you choose and why?

ExpressJet for every reason in the book except one . . . bases. Unless, of course, you already live (or want to live) in North Mexico (aka Houston), The Mistake by The Lake (aka Cleveland), or MaNewark. Phenomenal company in every way . . . but the bases do suck.

Don't be too disappointed if ExpressJet turns you down. I interviewed there, everything seemed to go great. The expressions I got from my interviewers was very positive, then I was turned down. Not sure why, maybe my cologne smelled bad of something.

I interviewed later at TSA. Again, the interview went great and was offered a job. I was based in STL, flew the ATR's and loved every minute of it. The pay sucked (of course, this was several years ago), but I learned a helluva lot about flying, from weather to regs.

If you have a choice, one appealing fact about ExpressJet is in it's namesake.....mostly jets.

Good luck!
