How long can a newhire expect to sit reserve before holding a line at express? Im on reserve at Mesa and living in base. If i take the express job I'll have to commute. Anybody have any insight as to weather or not Expressjet is really that much better than Mesa as far as QOL and pay? Or should I just stay with Mesa so i can live in base and not worry about the contract/pay. Also out of curiousity, does expressjet overnight in mexico, FL, bahamas, cali all those other cool looking destinations on the map?

Rsve can last 4 to 6 months depending on which base your at. The contract will be better than anything your ever going to see at mesa. Even the crappy current contract is better. Although I never have worked there at Mesa. And yes Express jet does have it problems. I think you would be hard pressed not to think about it. There is a reason why alot of people say Mesa is a terrible palce to work.

We overnight in FL and Mexico (and I assume CA but I've never done those routes). The bahamas flying is just turns, out and back.

Plus Expressjet isn't tied to two airlines in bankruptcy. If Airways dies, it could be uglier at Mesa than it is already.

I wondered how long it was going to take until this thread turned into bagging on Mesa... :)

Ah the age old question 'is the grass greener'?
Most of the time horizontal moves just don't work at the regional level. Almost all parties would probably put Mesa at the bottom of the totem poll, but Xjet ain't that great that I would be given up both seniority and being based where you live.

As bad as Mesa's clients are doing, XJet can easily be turned around on its head in the coming years. Our growth will stop sooner rather then later if/until management announces some new business plan to get us off CAL's nipple. I'm looking to upgrade at long last, but only because of guys going back to CAL which is only a terrorist act or extended Age 60 ruling away from slowing to a halt. Think you gotta ride this one out with Johnny O and hope for the best. Ain't much different then what I'm doing with Xjet. If you happen to see Johnny O please tell him I said 'Go F*ck Yourself.'

BTW, most of those exotic destinations are not overnights, just turns. Most of the Mexico overnights we do have not the beach and dos eques that you might imagine. Although you are treated like royality in the nudie bars. Forget Acapulco and Nassau. No my boy you'll enjoy it there for 30 minutes then head back on you're way spending 30 hours in Beamount!

Yep, and we also have the Puerta Vallarta overnight. But who would want to overnight there when you can stay right at the airport terminal in Mexico City, now that is NICE!!
