The strategy is pretty simple.... Skyw will merge things quickly, then threaten our union to "play ball" or start losing aircraft. I would bet their plan in to threaten furloughs and losses of airplanes to the non-union side unless they wring out everything good in the expressjet contract. Once XJET people figure out that JA is serious, watch how fast they jump off their gains.

Don't think for a second that Skyw inc will allow a strong, united pilot group to push it around... These guys didn't get this successful by being stupid.

Well then lets put up a fight. I'd say they can make threats all they want. They found out that moving our 700's to Skywest wasnt so cost effective. Lets not get tunnel vision when the going gets tough.

Our current contract with CAL has the lowest rates ever for 50 seat feed. Despite our low costs we will never be able to turn a profit with the current rates, especially with the CPI basically holding steady. Hopefully the new contract with ASA is for a higher cost.

XJT MEC Chairman, John Prater and Jerry are having a meeting soon. Our union continues to say "we have a strong case, and feel like they must merge everyone" I've emailed and called reps a few times... Everyone on here is so quick to assume we'll just let them whipsaw us like they are ASA, hopefully that is not the case.

A threesome! Sexy. Best mental picture ever.

I believe one of the press releases was that SKYW INC. already has the deal done with Smisek at the current rates for 10yrs. Inc. says it can make profits on the CPA once the merger is done.

Thats probably because INC plans on droping our waaaay overstaffed managment team and replace them with people that might actually think its a good idea to sign contracts that make money not "break even."

Exactly..Work with Jerry and it will work for you...He isn't an idiot....

But he is not working with us. He is deliberately working against us and going behind our back by working against our contract. He works with us and it will work for him. If he wasn't an idiot, he wouldn't want to piss off 5000 of his employees, half of which are pilots.

I have been reading all the threads on the XJT acquisition and am just about to throw up with the rampant suggestions that JA is a f'n genius and we should forget about what is good for the long-term benefit of all pilots at SKW/ASA/XJT and bow to the amighty Jerry. WTF??

Forget your anti-ALPA B.S. It doesn't matter who represents us in the end as long as we are unified. Sure, I know we all want to stay in our current seat in the A/C and/or base we want. But, you cannot deny that being one list would be much more beneficial for us all in the long run than to keep two separate entities. Being on the contract carrier side of things is volatile enough. Why allow your holding company to keep an extra hand in adding to that vollatility. Being one list would at least eliminate your own holding company from playing two work groups against each other.

I'm no genius, but it seems pretty obvious. But, I'm not Jerry either!
