Express.Net Airlines alleged for safety violations
19-Dec-2006 : FORMER employees of Express.Net Airlines have filed a lawsuit alleging they were fired after informing company officers of numerous safety violations. These violations include making illegal repairs and falsifying documents. Express.Net is a US cargo airline flying with B727F and A300B4-203F for clients including DHL and UPS.
Express.Net's former president, James H. Young, and former chief inspector, Raymond Barkoot, claim they were fired in violation of Florida's Whistleblower Act. This act protects employees from "retaliatory personnel action based upon an employee's disclosure or threat to disclose to any appropriate governmental agency an activity, policy or practice of the employer that is in violation of a law, rule or regulation".
According to the lawsuit, when Young informed company officers of the violations of FAA and TSA regulations, he was told to "do whatever it takes to keep flying, or words to that effect".
"Our FAA complaint will seek reinstatement. We want reinstatement or reasonable severance until they can obtain other employment," said Larry Farese, a Naples attorney representing the two men.
Does anyone know where from and to what destinations Express.Net is flying DHL product? I haven't seen them in ILN lately.
