When I applied this last febuary I had to call a recruiter and answer a whole lot of questions...I got an interview and didn't get called for the second...It has just passed the three month mark so I reapplied; this time it did not instruct me to call anyone (only if I had questions)...

So my question is this the normal way of going about getting an interview... or did I mess somthing up again???

My current times

just under 1700 total

over 330 multi

current Part 135 Pic

Thanks

I heard they are making some changes to the hiring process to "improve" it. I have no idea if that means they removed the phone call part or not, but I would expect a few things to change in the coming months. They are obviously starting to hurt for "qualified applicants" since they dropped the minimums again.

question

if xjet is so badly looking for pilots and they plan to lower there min, they should also get rid of the policy that applicants MUST be current and have a flying job. If a guy has over 2000 hours of flight time and is not current that does not mean they is not a good pilots. There are so many furlough guys out there with so much time, does that mean xjet thinks they are bad pilots.

thats just my 2cents worth

I believe experience has shown that non-current individuals do not make it through training. The curriculem is challenging enough as it is for seasoned pilots, even more so for those folks withought a turbine or freight-dog background. Add to it not having flown recently, and it would be a waste of both the applicants time and the company's resources. As to the furloghed folks out there, we have hired plenty. they all had jobs though. I think you'll find very few airlines will hire the un-employed, unless special circumstances exist.

well... I had many friends who interviewed with xjet and they have 135 experience, turbine time and have over 2000TT and in the past six months they had over 300 hours but during their interview they did not fly for the past one month and they did not get hired. Dawn stated very clearly that they need to have a current flying job. that does not make any sense at all. So your tell me that these individuals with turbine time, 135 experience, having PIC turbine time but becasue not fly for the last month, xjet feels that they will not pass the training. Hey! flying a regional jet is not like being a rocket scientist. Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can fly a RJ. You can train a monkey to fly a plane.

(I never said it was.)

Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can fly a RJ.

(Not true, ask any Check Airman)

You can train a monkey to fly a plane.

(You're right there, as I'm living proof, but you have to ask yourself, how much money do you want to spend training that monkey to fly the jet?)
Look, I can understand you're frustrated that your friends didn't get hired, but any airline hiring pilots has to set some standards. A company cannot say "Well... you have to have a job, but maybe we'll waive that if you look like you might be above average."

My point is this: Express Jet can set any conditions it wants, and they are not, contrary to how they may appear to someone like yourself, arbitrary. You are not going to change how things are done by bitching about it here. If it's sympathy you're after, you picked the wrong crowd.
