Whats up with the Afgan contract? Any info on contract length, pay, rotations, QOL while in country, and mission?

PM me if you prefer a discrete conversation, just don't get fresh. Im sensitive.

The Russian wants to go for round 2 in Afghanistan, eh?

More than you'll ever do Badger - all we hear from you is b*tching about our commander and chief, our mission, etc...Talk about sour grapes - typical liberal. I say good on russian for his curiousity in trying to help out his country. I know, you'll say our president is responsible for war crimes and Hillary and Nancy are going to save our country. B*tch, b*tch...Maybe you and Hank can write a post together. I'm sure you can find a Molly Ivins or Leonard Pitts article as well. Give me a break.

Dog , Don't think I would be so vocal defending our president. Face it pro or con GWB and the boys tried to do it on the cheap and f##ked up the deal. Pure incompetence.

Well, if you re-read my post - it wasn't aimed at defending our commander and chief as much as to badger's constant griping and b*tching (and then giving the russian a hard time for trying to help support our country). Do I think there were mistakes made? Yes. Do I defend our Pres on a lot of issues as well? Yes I do. I'm proud to serve. If that's vocal to you, that's too bad. But I'm surely not sorry. If you want to see pure incompetence, take a look at our newly elected democratic congress. When you see the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, and Murtha trying to dictacte tactical decisions and timetables to our military commanders as they are trying to do now - that is the definition of pure incompetence.

Wow Scrap, it was just a joke. You do know what that is, right?

Please remove the sand from your vagina before you log on next time, thanks.

D@mn, I love how simple friggin questions always become a pissin match here between folks who for whatever reason feel inclined to highjack a thread and never answer the question!

Badgy - I love a good joke as much as the next guy - however from your posts as a trend you constantly b*tch and complain about our current policy while doing absolutely nothing to change it. You want to make it better? Remove the sand out of your vagina, and do something about it. You're young, you've got plenty of avenues in helping to make our country better.

Russian - again, good on ya!

Thanks Scrapdog. Well said. In a few months I will be doing my part to help out. I will do anything so that AirPossum may retain his current level of suburbia.

I think some of these contracts, they dont like talked about in public because some are of a sensitive nature. I am not at Evergreen, would like to be though.

I applied last week for one of the Afghanistan jobs advertized on their website, and had a phone interview with a recruiter day before yesterday. However, when I spoke with him he said that Evergreen didn't get the contract and would I be interested in a position flying the 1900 in Panama doing "undisclosed" work. Not sure what the deal is at all, but relocation was a requirment. I told him that I wasn't sure I could do that. He asked me some basic questions about my qualifications and would be sending my answers to his boss. The whole thing was very strange, because one of the deals when you apply on-line is answering three questions...Flight time, Any Alaska flying and a short essay entitled, "Tell us your life story". So, a job working for Evergreen Helicopters Alaska in Panama advertized as a job in Afghanistan?
If anyone knows who DID get these contracts or knows of any contractors looking for US licensed pilots to fly turboprops overseas please send me a PM. Thanks!

Regards,

ex-Navy Rotorhead

1900 in Panama? There are/were Casas out there.

Yeah, thats what the recruiter told me. 1900 flying out of Panama. They were also advertizing for the CASA and the Be-200 in Afghanistan, but I guess they didn't get that contract either. What about Blackwater or DynCorp? Heard that they are doing some work with SOCOM in theatre also.

Dont know about Dyncorp, but Blackwater is operating their Casa's and Metro's out here in Afghanistan. I fly to the same places they do in this country, but they get paid quadruple what I get :) and they probably have more access to ammo than I do.

Next time you hear a "Shell" callsign with an obnoxiously loud pilot on the radio (my aircraft commander) - give the Grunt a shout!

Fly safe.
