I think some of these contracts, they dont like talked about in public because some are of a sensitive nature. I am not at Evergreen, would like to be though.

I applied last week for one of the Afghanistan jobs advertized on their website, and had a phone interview with a recruiter day before yesterday. However, when I spoke with him he said that Evergreen didn't get the contract and would I be interested in a position flying the 1900 in Panama doing "undisclosed" work. Not sure what the deal is at all, but relocation was a requirment. I told him that I wasn't sure I could do that. He asked me some basic questions about my qualifications and would be sending my answers to his boss. The whole thing was very strange, because one of the deals when you apply on-line is answering three questions...Flight time, Any Alaska flying and a short essay entitled, "Tell us your life story". So, a job working for Evergreen Helicopters Alaska in Panama advertized as a job in Afghanistan?
If anyone knows who DID get these contracts or knows of any contractors looking for US licensed pilots to fly turboprops overseas please send me a PM. Thanks!

Regards,

ex-Navy Rotorhead

1900 in Panama? There are/were Casas out there.

Yeah, thats what the recruiter told me. 1900 flying out of Panama. They were also advertizing for the CASA and the Be-200 in Afghanistan, but I guess they didn't get that contract either. What about Blackwater or DynCorp? Heard that they are doing some work with SOCOM in theatre also.

Dont know about Dyncorp, but Blackwater is operating their Casa's and Metro's out here in Afghanistan. I fly to the same places they do in this country, but they get paid quadruple what I get :) and they probably have more access to ammo than I do.

Next time you hear a "Shell" callsign with an obnoxiously loud pilot on the radio (my aircraft commander) - give the Grunt a shout!

Fly safe.
