JFK is the base but you need to get to your base EIA will not pay to get you there. Alot of guys work the system to get to JFK by coming out early or they use travel bank.
 
As Zoneload already mentioned... you need to get yourself to JFK for your assignment. However, there are options available to make this much easier for you. If you volunteer to start your trip early (extra flying), they will commercial you from your home airport to wherever they need you. Likewise, if you choose to work past your line, they will commercial you all the way home. The travel bank is also a way to buy your own ticket to JFK but the company pays for it out of a bank that you accrue by saving them money over time. Schedules for the most part are 16 on - 14 or 15 off. Some are a day or two shorter but dont count on holding those trips if your junior. Hope this helps.
