I was just curious, does anyone know what kind of money regional pilots make in Europe??? Is it as bad as it is here in the states?

Not yet!

Well... You have to add, that, in order to get one of those Jobs you have to a) have an JAA ATP which cost you about 40-60k Euros ab-initio (Which gives you about 280 hours total time) and b) in most places the waiting list for jobs is endless and c) you need to pass a psych. Test which is tough (At Lufthansa the failure rate for these test is 85%!). CityLine hasn't hired in a long time and others are not better. Sure, there are some regionals where you might be able to get in but they pay almost as bad or even worse as low-end US regionals. FlyNiki, an austrian upstart flying mostly A320's pays 33K Euro a year (Before tax etc., which is about 45%!) for a CAPTAIN! So that leaves you with about 18K Euros net pay for a Captain on an Airbus. And still people are applying because they have to pay their loans. By the way, almost every european regional expects you to pay for your typerating.

The german airlines are expected to hire 270 pilots total this year (And that's ALL, not only the regionals).

So, the jobmarket is pretty bad in europe too...

Cheers,
