i'm looking to do some research on how an engine such as the GE90-115B gets certified for ETOPs? this is for a Turbine Theory paper that i'm writing and i didn't know if anyone had links to websites or what not, or parts from the regs...now the second question i have is that does the engines on say a large Biz Jet get the same certification to jump the pond as a 121 certified aircraft does? or is it a different standard? any info is appreciated...thanks...

Engines do not receive ETOPS certification apart from the aircraft.
ETOPS certification is not applicable to bizjet operations.

I just flew our first -300ER to Manila and back, very nice. The airplane sits about 14 inches higher to keep adequate ground clearance margins for the bigger engine diameter ( 135 inches ). The difference on starting is that we can only start one engine at a time due to the air requirements of the bigger engine. We departed Dubai with a full payload and could have carried fuel for 12 hours. Climbed up to 33,000 initially and then 37,000 later in the flight. On the way back we were full again ( 435 pax and 15 crew ) and did use ETOPS flight planning as Yangon was closed. One noticeable difference on landing is that the reverse thrust takes longer to feel as the engines are slower to spool back up. The Jeppessen Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag is nice. We're only using the Video, Documents, and Performance functions on it at first. We'll add the actual Jepp service at some point in the future. That will have an airport map feature which depicts the aircraft GPS position overlayed on a taxi chart. Very handy for finding your way around a new airport or in low visibility conditions.
