Establishing start days

How does NJ, CS, Avantair etc. establish start days? Is it seniority based...if so, do they continually run standing bids? Any weekend start days?

For the 7/7, they start all days of the week for a two week period - depending on which fleet you are in determines the start days available. Not the same for all fleets. Bid by seniority, but once you have a 7/7 line you like it is yours and you cannot be bumped. Not real popular with the senior guys who were "playing the seam".

So I imagine that if you get a Sat or Sun start you never ever have a weekend off?

At CS, they are assigned to you based on fleet.

What about weekends...you'll never have one off if your fleet starts on those days? I know Avantair is switching to 7/7 very soon...it'll be interesting to see if those guys will now have weekend starts. I don't believe they did before.

12 payed sick days a year and 2 three week vacations a year, after 5 years three 3 week vacations a year, after 10 years four 3 week vacations a year that is one month off every 3 months, plenty of weekends off.

There are no Saturday or Sunday starts at CS. All fleets change at designated days M-F depending on fleet. Every other weekend is totally off.

Only on Sunday starts will you not have a full weekend off. Every other start day gets every other weekend off.
