Hey I was just wondering if anyone out there has completed courses with Epic or are currently with them. I am between here and Skymates in Texas and was looking for what the pros/cons of Epic were/are. I've talked to guys/ladies from both places and of course both sound really positive about what they offer. More specifically I was wondering for Epic how long is a realistic time line (of course it differs) to finish zero hours to professional pilot course? Also what's the different between that and what is written as the Right Seat direct track? For instructors there how hard is it to get Multi time and where do most of your students end up going to work? Lastly how is the MX and life in New Smyrna? Thanks ahead of time for all your help in advance. One last thing what is the average cost and chances of not going over cost?

While I was at Riddle back in 2003 my fraternity brother instructed at Epic and seemed to like it. If I remember correctly they had some sort of charter operation out there and once he worked for them for a while he was suppose to get some time flying charter. They were just getting new 172SP's when I graduated. New Smyrna is a nice quite beach town to live in and your only about 10min from Daytona. Nice airport to fly out of and from what I remember a good outfit to learn at. Just keep your eyes peeled out the window for traffic, tons of flight training in the area and people aren't always on the right freq. due to so many airports so close to each other.

I fly there.

About 10 new 172SPs, 172RG, Duchess, and 152, and G1000 182T. AS well as two G1000 (glass cockpit) 172SPs.

Good prices, lots of staff, great outfit. Great mx. Weather is almost always great, and New Smyrna is a nice airport. It has a tower now, and they have radar too. New Smyrna is probably a little bit pricey, but not expensive. Areas like Daytona Beach and South Daytona are probably cheaper. But you get what you pay for with regard to housing.

If you give me your email address, I can get you in contact with someone who did what you want to do, at Epic. They went from 0 hours to commercial in a few months, and they work in the office as well. Soon to be an instructor too, I imagine.
