Just curious if anyone has or knows of someone who has become an aviation warrant officer in the army after being enlisted in an other branch. I'm USCG enlisted right now, and have only served one of my four years on my contract. After looking at some Army Warrant recruiting info, it looks like I can apply when I have two years left on my enlistment. But, the way I understand it is I would have to get a conditional release from the CG first. I don't know if being an E-3 or E-4, the CG might not give me that conditional release. Just looking for more info right now
thanks
p.s. i already tried going aviation in cg but dont pass depth perception standards on Fl.Physical. hoping army might be more helpful with waiver

Hi,
If you didn't pass the CG depth perception you will likely have trouble getting an Army waiver. Maybe with the drove of people leaving after these Iraq/Afghan deployments there will be some give, but my experience is that they are fairly fixed on the eye requirements. Depth perception is difficult enough going into an LZ in the middle of the desert wearing NVGs. Good luck and I hope you can get in......we will need you.
