I just got off the phone with my Active duty recruiter...I turned him down for a slot right when I am about to get my class letter, because i took a slot with the guard (already enlisted)
.
WEll, needless to say, all kinds of threats abounded including that whoever signed me into the Air Guard would be violating ethical rules, and they (Active Duty) were going to "burn me" and make sure I dont get a slot at all.

Is this a legit threat or are they trying to scare me? I wasnt sworn in yet.

Sounds like a load of Bull$hit to me....

If you are a good, qualified pilot that the Air Force is looking for...Then it would not matter. I highly doubt that someone would go out of their way to prevent you from getting a slot you have already earned. Especially since they dint help you get one anyway!

If your recruiter said this - than he is a lunatic, and I would speak with his chief about the actions he is threatening you with.

Don't worry, the slot is yours.

Id agree, if anyone is violating ethics it's the recruiter who probably has none to start with. J/k but if you never swore in with active duty, you can dump the slot like yesterdays news if you so choose. Id get his boss on the phone and tell him you don’t appreciate empty threats. Don't make a big fuss over it but he is the only one who took the improper action.

Recruiters are given incentive pay for making their quotas. So, it wouldn't surprise me if the recruiters (both guard and active duty)were trying to blind-side each other and you're just caught in the middle.

I would say...before going into any chief's office to complain, make sure everything is legal, i.e. there was no violation of recruiting ethics (if there's such a thing). Before you start throwing darts at recruiters, make sure they can't throw bigger darts backatcha :D

Mention this episode to your Commander or Ops Officer in your guard unit.

Don't make a big drama out of it, just give them a heads up that the AD recruiter was upset and made threats.

In the Air Force a good boss can protect you from just about anything if he's not blind-sided.
