Saw two new EMB 190s in the takeoff lines today in ATL. We saw one waiting to take off on the south side when we were landing, and one taxiing on the north side when we pulled up to our gate. They were painted in EMB colors with EMBRAER 190 painted on the side. Im guessing they were making timing/practice runs into ATL, but from where to where and for whom?? JEtBlue?, Delta? Anybody?

No EMB-190s have been built yet. I am guessing they were the EMB-170 demonstrators then. What did you think of them? How did they look?

They (Embraer) have been flying the EMB-170 to various cities all over North America to show off the new plane to anyone who might want take a look. Do a search as there were links to pics of it in IND (about 2+ weeks ago)on this board...

:)

CRJ Puppy,

Thanks for the comment. I have seen many pictures of the airplane - pretty impressive. I just wanted to see what Bailout thought of it in person. Does it resemble a mini-Airbus or does it appear much smaller? Does it look considerably bigger than a CRJ-200/700?

demos

It was demo flights for Delta and DCI folks. Look under the majors board and the Delta Oct 8th thread for the official statement from delta on the company intranet.

Heavy Set

I got a $2. tour down here in Fort Lauderdale (Embraer's US offices). Inside it's much roomer looking than the CRJ700/900 series. They have something called a double bubble cabin, that allows for the spaciousness.

On the outside it does look a little like an Airbus, but the nose looks more like the Bombardier than Airbus. The wing mounted engines and extended length on the landing gear, give it an appearance of a full size mainliner. It can use the standard jetways.

If you want a myriad of pictures, just go to airliners.net, and go to the pictures search. They will give you the option of type of a/c. Type it in and take a gander. :)

Oops! Yes it was the 170. It looked like a 737-800 with winglets to me at first, better yet, it looks very similiar to a BBJ. Its much bigger than the CR7. Of course it was dwarfed by the Delta 777 in front and the South African 747 right behind it.
