Hello,
Just wondering from those of you who work at Skywest,
1. How is Salt Lake as a base for a FO in the EMB-120 like? Approx. time on reserve? Trip lengths?
2. How good are the chances looking right now for getting Salt Lake as an FO EMB-120?

I am going to class on the 21st of November, and was wondering some of these questions. If you have any other info on these subjects please post.

Appreciate all participation.

Thanks.

Not having flown the EMB in SLC (two years in PDX for me + 3 years SLC RJ), this is just an educated guess...

I think SLC is probably one of the better EMB bases. The flights are longer up here therefore very few 8-leg days. The SoCal system have a lot of those high-leg days because of the very short flights, LAX-SNA, PSP, SBA, etc..

I think IAH is similar...

Welcome to Skywest!! You join a very long legacy of Medfly guys here!!

Funny

Hello "clear Right"!!
That is a very funny handlename for those of us who fly for Medfly. LOL
This place must have given you a lasting impression. I am very happy to
join Skywest, and a little sad to leave this place. The guys here we work with
are awesome.

I have heard of about 6 or 7 names of guys before me who are now at Skywest, definetely you must be one of those. The company is really good as I hear from all of you guys.

It's always nice to hear good news from the ex-medflys. Thanks for the reply.

(left standard turn with an extension coming up cpt! ... bugs off)

There is an FO in PDX right now trying to get in to SLC. Just a heads up. Not very many people commute out of PDX on the EMB.

Pretty much all of the EMB trips are four days with some locals and stand ups in the bid package. I think SLC is the only place with stand up trips anymore on the Brasilia. It's basically a trip that shows around 8pm and finishes around 8am. You spend most of your duty time sleeping in the hotel. Of course you only get five hours of sleep but people like it because they can be home more.
The company is keeping the Brasilia crews fairly short because they don't want to spend money on something that doesn't necessarily make money.

With everyone setting sights on the RJs I think advancement in SLC would go fairly quick for an EMB FO. You may end up on reserve for a little bit but nothing like Horizon's 3 years on the Dash. I'd think you should be able to hold a line in a few months.

Are you planning on commuting?

Hopefully not

Hopefully not going for the commuting business, as I have heard time and time and again how hectic it is. I will try to move to the base. Hopefully I can get SLC starting out from class. I have good friends at SLC who work at Skywest, and the cost of living is more affordable than here on the west coast.

Does anyone of you know how many Brasilia classess are they having by the end of this year?

Question?

Hey TheSkyking, are you going for upgrade on the RJ or the BRO?

I'll be in class a week behind you for upgrade. I don't know anything after the 29th.
What date of hire and/or seniority number is the Brasilia upgrade and where are those captains getting domiciled?

Could you share DOH for the junior captain in the various domiciles?

Just wondering,

GP

I'm going into the emb120. Awarded FAT with most of the other upgrades. My DOH is 2/20/03 and I am 1350 out of about 1800.
