I have many questions:
PLEASE no bashing.

First off, why are they having problems finding pilots? I noticed they lowered their mins? Why?

Second, Where are the junior bases? I want Miami if at all possible.
They still sending people to PR?

Third, Is there any possiblity like in 7-8-9 years making it through a flow to big brother?

Four, the website says they have a 24 hour reserve. Is that BS or is there certain hours that are actually reserve, like 5 am to 5 pm for example?

Five, What aircraft are they training into? Not even sure what they have, I think they have ATRs RJs and used to have the Saab.

Six, On a line how often do you end up back at your base for the night?

Thanks!

Sorry can't answer this one without bashing.

You should be able to get Miami, they are still sending people to PR. If you want Miami, just make sure you bid the ATR (i.e. miami or PR). If you get on the jet or the Saab you can kiss Miami goodbye until you upgrade or until they open a Miami Jet base.

Third, Is there any possiblity like in 7-8-9 years making it through a flow to big brother?

Probably not, the flow through will not exist in it's present form in the time frame you are speaking of. The people that already have seniority numbers at AA that are still stuck at AE still have a fight ahead of them before (and if) they get to AA.

Four, the website says they have a 24 hour reserve. Is that BS or is there certain hours that are actually reserve, like 5 am to 5 pm for example?

You are at the company's whim for 24 hours a day while on reserve, the company assigns you an availability period that suits their needs on a daily basis.

Five, What aircraft are they training into? Not even sure what they have, I think they have ATRs RJs and used to have the Saab.

They are training into all types. Saab 340's, ATR's, EMB-145/140/135, and CRJ-700's

Six, On a line how often do you end up back at your base for the night?

Most Eagle pilots are commuters, therefore most trips are 4 day trips, some 2 day back to backs which give you an extra day at home, a few stand-ups will get you home every day (not night), and every so often they throw in a line with day trips but they usually go WAY junior and are very unpopular.

Thanks!

So when hired can you request a certain aircraft. How hard would it be to get the ATR? What is a stand up? And why would'nt you want to have it? (because most are commuters I guess?) What is a 2 day back to back? How easy is it to totally get away from PR? (like out of class).

Thanks again

As for aircraft selection, you get to chose from what's available the day you start class...usually seniority is based on age for newhires.

A stand-up is also known as a CDO - continuous duty overnight -- last leg out to the overnight and first leg back to the base in the morning with 4-5 hrs in between block in and block out...not long enough to lay down and sleep, hence the name. Low time flying (30hrs/month) so you just get paid guarantee...nice if you live at the base and need to be home every day.

Good Luck!

You can pretty much request anything in life... Does that mean that you are actually going to get it?! big gamble if you ask me. They are going to put you where they need you to be, bottom line.

They are "really" having problems "finding" pilots? Says who? Mr. Darby also believes the pilot shortage currently still exists, you think that one is true as well?.

surplus will always exceed demand in this industry.

Take things with a grain of salt my friend.

flow through to AA? HA!, you have got to be kidding me?

I think it is fair to say or assume that the flow won't be effecting you should you choose to go to AE.

good luck, I have quite a few friends over there at Eagle and good people for the most part.

Yea I know 350. Of course there is a difference between what they need now. Do they need people in the ATR, SAAB or RJs?? Compared to other regionals they have dropped there mins way low. And they have dropped them already I believe 3 times just his year. I'd have to say they having trouble filling classes, but why? Aircraft orders, QOL, washouts, can't get through the astronaut medical, can't fly the sim?

I was never an Eagle pilot so the following is just what I have been told by friends at AE who have been there awhile so don't know how much it will help you out..

They still are hiring for the ATR and if no one wants it then they will put the required people there to meet staffing needs, you may not have a choice.

I think possibly the "pay issue" may be steering some away but I don't believe they are having that much trouble as some would tend to think.

Enough low timers out there who could care less about the pay and would jump at the chance to fly a shiny new RJ over instructing in a not so shiny C152.

I think the sim comes way before the medical, must pass sim and interview before making it to medical or so I have been told.

I will let the AE guys speak the truth...

good luck,

I'd have to say they having trouble filling classes, but why?

Here's some very plausible reasons to this if it is in fact the case...

Poor labor/mgmt relations including but not limited to a 16 year contract.

Historically very long upgrade times.

Insistence by the company to pay 'average' compensation compared to the
other regionals out there.

The flow through, which WAS a huge recruiting tool (and nothing else), is dead.

-Most newhires are going to the RJ right now. 'Trickle' hiring is in effect to both the Saab and ATR.

Any Eagle folks with the following info is most appreciated:

What is the seniority of the most junior FO holding a line in the JET at 1) LAX 2) DFW 3) ORD ?

Also, with your best guesstimate, how much seniority do you feel it will take to hold a line in 6 or 12 months from now (at each of the 3 aforementioned locations)

ORD CRJ junior line holder is about 3 months.
