Hello Everyone,
I am a new user here and just want to get some info from everyone here. I really do not want to start a PFT war or anything like that. I also posted this on the 135 charter forum. Let me begin by explaining my situation. I am a CIME(SE) pilot and also am a CFII. I am at 350 hours right now. Working as a flight instructor is very difficult especially with a family and a mortgage, and car payments...I am already working two jobs...well I am sure you all understand. I am trying to chug it out but it has become very difficult and I am looking for a faster approach in reaching an airline position. My ultimate goal is the corporate/fractional market. I have been looking around and have noticed a company called Eagle Jet which sells blocks of flight time and I believe they put you in the right seat at Ameriflight. Is this a good idea for someone like me? Should I just purchase the 500 hours in a Beech 1900 or the 1250 hours in a Navajo? I am really stressed out about not flying enough and not being able to provide for my family...please help guys. Looking for some info and guideance. Below is the link for Eagle Jet in case you do not know what it is.

Thank you all....

As tempting as it probably is for you to get 500 turbine--don't do it. I don't mean to discourage you but I am looking for a good corporate gig just as you are. I am flying in a Hawker 800 and have 1000 hours in it. I am having difficulty finding the same type of job with 10 times the flight time you have. Buying 500 hours turbine is not going to help you get a corp/fractional gig. It WILL probably get you on at coex or some other regional. If your immediate goal is to get on with a regional--do it in the 1900. Otherwise, I would get a good local job and buy my own time on the weekends in a multi and go work for a regional depending on how old you are. Where do you live at?

Welcome to the NG. You should get alot of help on this one. But Thats PFT and lots of people look down on that kind of stuff. And also if you are going to buy a block of time in a 135 IFR gig how can you log the time? You cant log PIC because you dont have 1200TT and all the other mins. And you cant log SIC because they do not need a SIC on there planes. I dont see why or how these people that do these programs log the time??????

I hope this helps
Tony

Thanks for your post Cosmo. I live in Phoenix, AZ. Iwould love to go to a regional but it seems like getting the time is just taking so long. I am not to keen on PFT either as I like to work for what I get. Do you know of any good places to "buy" some multi time out here in PHX that is not PFT? Thanks again for everyones help.

Didn't you say that you have family, mortgage etc? and money was tight? I don't understand how going from a job that pays to not only working for free but paying to work is going to help you... But maybe my calculator is broken again... i don't know. Are you sitting all day at the airport 6 days a week and only logging 10 hours a month or something? There are other flight schools if the one you're at is that bad...

No prob XFR8DOG, yeah money is tight but I would have taken out a loan to pay for the flying. I have decided though after researching more that I will not PFT and that it is counter productive to my efforts and the efforts of pilots in general. Just have to keep chugging away. I was figuring that if I get myself into the cockpit faster at a regional I would more quickly move into bigger money. I did not get into aviation for the money. I LOVE to fly and so I will just keep on keeping on. Thanks for the motivation though everyone.

As far as SIC in a Navajo…… As long a their 135 cert. requires two pilots, then it’s legal to log it as sic.

.
When I instructed, I would take a half-day and go out knockin' on doors. I found one corporate operator who had just hired a guy, so asked where that guy came from. Backtracked to that operator, and - bingo - right-seat in a King Air 90 with 10 hours ME. Networking is the ONLY way to get hired, so get out and meet people. You might pick up some time riding along with an owner-pilot, a corporate operation with a guy out sick, etc.

Good luck!

Just a real quick post for you on eagle jets. I did the program through Ameriflight....which is who I think your looking to do it through in PHX. I was offered a job with Amflight when I finished my training. I flew the line for 4 months and now I'm flying for a regional gettting paid less! The good thing was that I flew 5 days a week and racked up about 100 hours in 1 and 1/2 months. When your logging the time, its kinda up in the air....you can log PIC under 135 VFR with under the 1200 and 100. Amflight hires some pilots this way who don't meet the requirements. The problem is that sometimes they get stuck when the WX goes down.

If you do the program in the 1900 you can look at the regionals like Great lakes, Colgan, Piedmont. I know an FO on the 99 who got offered a job with Piedmont flying Dash-8's who didn't have 1200 total time. Send me a PM if you want any more info.
