Has anyone heard anything (good or bad) about Eagle Jet Interlational based in Miami, FL? I'm thinking of going there to build up hours after I finish up at ATP. Thanks for any responses.

Checked out the website and seems questionable at best. No first hand information, but that's how I see it.

I wouldn't do it.

Never met anyone that actually did their timebuilding program (many here will call it PFT, which is wrong). Had some friends that were interested but got jobs before they did it. Usually some friendly charter guy at your local field will do the same for free. Thats how I got into flying CE-550's corporate. Also, if you are going to spend that kind of money look into other well know programs such as MAPD or GIA.

The guy is a foreign scum bag who owns and operates this outfit. He is currently being sued by quite a few and has been sued in the past for taking money and not coming through with what was promised. One of his biggest connections is with Ameriflight and with other smaller 135 operators. Stay far away, I have heard nothing but negative things regarding this operation. Just for kicks give this guy a call, from his accent and his words this should answer every question that you may have. If you are looking for a good and solid program then look into the Mesa Airlines Pilot Development Program.

Stay away! Far away!!

I used to fly for a 135 flying King Air's and our co-pilots were mostly from there. I got the skinny on what they do and what kind of company it is. It is a PFT!! You go there and spend $20,500 (don't quote me) and get 500 hrs of part 135 King Air co-pilot time.

P-f-t

Eagle Jet International is clearly another pay-for-training scheme (or, as Russian so euphemistically puts it, a timebuilding program):

Thank you for inquiring on one of Eagle Jet International’s professional airline first officer advanced flight training programs. Flexibility in Eagle Jet International’s advanced first officer programs has become one of our strongest assets . . . .

(emphasis added)

Any time you read "first officer training program" you can be assured that it is P-F-T. It is taking away a position that otherwise would be occupied by an employee hired by normal methods.

Further,
He is currently being sued by quite a few and has been sued in the past for taking money and not coming through with what was promised. One of his biggest connections is with Ameriflight and with other smaller 135 operators . . . .
(emphasis added)

. . . . is yet another indication of P-F-T. Paying the employer for training in return for the job, though, in this case, Eagle Jet is the go-between. Not to mention that he has been and is being sued.

Absent attending a program such as MAPD, where you might get some real training and a legitimate shot at a regional job on graduation, what about flight instructing as a way of building hours? Wouldn't that be a new and fresh idea? Or, as Russian suggested, making contacts that could land you free charter opportunities?

I had a feeling it was a pretty bad deal. Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm glad I posted here. By the way, what is GIA?

Now that you've learned a little about pay-for-training, go see for yourself on the Gulfstream website and see how it compares with Eagle Jet.
