What are some of the good Army/mixed branch duty stations for a single guy? Preferably one in country and with an Aero Club so I can maintain my flight ratings.

Also, anyone that has been to Fort Rucker, how does it rate as far as duty stations go?

Any help would be appreciated.

You make it sound like you think you will actually have a choice in the process if you become a military pilot.

To try and answer your question, any base is great. They are all what you make of them. As far as joint stations, the only one I can think of is FT Bragg that is colocated with Pope Air Force Base. I am sure there are more but I just can't think of any.

Many have flying clubs and they are reasonably priced.

Ft Rucker is a nice duty station. Low cost of living and relatively close to some beaches. The area is quet and the folks are nice.

Unfortunately, I am not eligible for a pilot position due to my vision. However, I am pursuing my #2 option as a crew chief. I am asking about duty stations on the off chance that I actually do have a choice. Thanks for the info.

The sad thing is that as a crew chief you will have even less say. But it is a good thing to hope for.
