Job Description


DuPont Aviation is seeking an experienced Second-in-Command Pilot to join the flight department located in Wilmington, Delaware.

DuPont Aviation contributes to the profitable growth of DuPont by enabling our senior leadership and businesses to flexibly pursue global competitive opportunities safely, securely, and in minimum time.

The Second-In-Command is responsible for assisting the Pilot-In-Command (PIC) in the daily operation of the aircraft. Ensures that safety is always first, and is operationally responsible to the Captain. The Second-In-Command's primary responsibility is to provide for the safe, comfortable and economical operation of his/her aircraft.

Other duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Ensuring compliance with the DuPont Flight Operations Manual and all federal/ICAO aviation regulations.
  • Developing personnel for self-improvement.
  • Being a role model in safety and communications between functions.
  • Maintaining valid licenses and certificates required to perform flight duties.
  • Obtaining and maintaining passports and, if required, visas, current international certificates of vaccination, and other documents as required to travel to specific international destinations.
  • Perform complete preflight inspections of the aircraft, including external walk-around and cabin inspection.
  • Knowing and complying with Company policies and checklists.
  • Setting up the flight deck for flight.
  • Supervising refueling and servicing of the aircraft and ensuring that provisions are on board for each flight.
  • Computing aircraft performance data, programming the flight management system, and briefing the Captain prior to departure.
  • Loading and unloading baggage and providing other services to assist the passengers.
  • Monitor activity in the cabin to determine if passenger needs are being met.
  • Maintaining vigilance to assume the duties of Pilot-In-Command if that person should be come incapacitated or unable to perform PIC duties.
  • Continually improved professionalism and knowledge by self-study courses, national Business Aviation Association publications and web information, and reading trade journals. Expanding and improving the knowledge and skills necessary for upgrade to Captain.
  • Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Captain or DuPont Aviation management personnel.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor degree in Aviation or related field
  • Airline Transport Pilot certificate
  • Class II FAA medical certificate
  • 1500 hours flight time, 500 of those hours multi-engine turbine.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills a plus
  • Turbine experience preferred
