I posted this in the Regional Forum as well so I apologize for the duplication...

My question is should I include my Helo ratings (Comm, inst, CFI)on my resumes that I send to companies that only fly fixed wing aircraft? Do some people frown on the ratings (i.e. Regionals) or would it help to have one more thing that may set me apart from the myriad of other applicants? Bear in mind that the vast majority of my flight experience (over 95%) is in fixed wing aircraft.

Thanks!!!

You earned those ratings so list them, though you may want to de-emphasize it by listing helo time last.

Airplane and rotor ratings

Absolutely you should list your rotor quals on the your resume! The more quals that you can show, the better.

No one will frown on your rotor experience; in fact, having something other than airplane experience can help you. I knew an instructor at Riddle who had his glider ratings and glider time. He had an interview at Express I in Memphis (which may now be Pinnacle). He told us how his interviewer noticed his glider background. The interviewer was also a glider pilot. They started talking - and bonded - and my acquaintance got hired. Sometimes, that's all it takes to get the job.

Good luck with your job search.

If you're dual rated, I think there's no harm in mentioning it.

People are much more open-minded about stuff like that now as evidenced by the popularity of shows like "Will and Grace" and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."

It's not like there's anything wrong with that...
