Drunk Flight Attendants Attack Passenger

MosNews

Intoxicated flight attendants on an Aeroflot flight beat up a passenger, the website of the Izvestia newspaper reported Tuesday.

The passenger, identified as A. Chernopup, was on board a flight from Moscow to the Siberian city of Nizhevartovsk. Two crew members apparently beat him up after he complained that they were drunk, airline spokeswoman Irina Dannenberg said. Chernopup had asked to be served by a sober and competent flight attendant. In Nizhnevartovsk, he was sent to a doctor.

The flight crew belonged to another airline, Aviaenergo, the website quoted Dannenberg as saying. They only began catering for the passengers 90 minutes after take-off.

The website quoted another passenger as saying that half of the food the crew served fell on the floor. One passenger was also pressed up against a door.

The beaten passenger reported the incident to the police and they instigated criminal proceedings, the website said. The entire crew of the flight has been temporarily dismissed and a joint commission is investigating the incident, Dannenberg said.

Because Aeroflot does not have enough aircraft it leases planes and crew from other airlines, Dannenberg said
