Hiya

I'm on MPA orders and the housing allowance where I live has dropped from 2005 to 2006. I was on a set of orders from 28 Dec through the end of March, during which time I received the higher housing allowance. When the new set of MPA orders came out, my housing allowance dropped to the 2006 rate. The research I've done tells me that I have rate protection, but my MPF tells me I'm on a new set of orders and they'd have to extend the old orders, which is a bigger deal than an act of congress, apparently. When I showed them the regs I was able to find online, they told me that's for AD folks, and things are different for reservists. Some guys in my unit are in the same boat, and others are still getting older, higher rates.

I thought I'd throw this one out to the "barracks lawyers" of Flightinfo... does anyone know the real skinny? I can provide more details if needed.

Thanks

I moved to a different state therefore my BAH should change. It would go down on my new zip code. I talked to my finance office and wanted it changed so I would not owe money down the road. They said I got to keep the same rate I was recieving until I had a break in the orders. Once a new set of orders coome out then I would get the new lower rate. Luckly this is not for awhile. I am not sure how the amendments work since my latest extension was prior to me moving out of the state. I am Guard so it may be different. good luck
